The Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Habib Aruna, has said the state is set to invest in a monorail project that will link Ikoyi and Oniru in Victoria Island to Marina.
This he said in a statement on Monday, adding that the state government seeks to partner with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency to fast track the monorail project which would later connect with the ongoing Lekki Rail Line project.
In line with the project, the state’s Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, disclosed that a detailed feasibility study has been commissioned on the monorail project which will involve about N300 billion ($1 billion) investment if the study results turn out positive.
Mr Ashade said this urban mass transportation project differs from the ongoing Blue and Red Rail Line projects. Moreover, he also revealed that the state plans to embark on providing modern waste disposal facility in Epe and renovating slums in Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Bariga Local Council Development Area of the state respectively.
